Innovative devices for the protection of welded sections in steel structures

Abstract. The paper proposes the use of innovative devices devoted to brittle collapse protection welded steel sections, typically represented by end beam cross-sections in framed structures. Reference is made I-shaped cross-sections. At first, limiting case plane stress, relevant elastic domain defined N,T,M space; then a frame equipped with proposed and subjected seismic load condition studied, ensuring that generalized stresses at sections be within domain.
